Letter from The President, October 2017

To all FPV Tickford Club of NSW Members.
Dear All,
I can bring you this letter on the first day of October and first day of daylight savings,
more daylight and good weather to get around in our prides and joy.
October is also the month of our premier motorsport event, the Bathurst 1000. If the
Sandown result is anything to go by, a win and a full Ford podium, Bathurst can’t
come quick enough. We all hope for a great result there and form shows us it is highly
likely….and a bit of luck thrown in as well.
There was a lot of Club activity in September.
Firstly, to McCredie’s. While not a huge night, all of the regular diehards were there,
so still an enjoyable night out. This month we are there again on October 3. As you
will already know, the night will start as the usual social night and around 7:30pm we
will move to the main function room for the Annual General Meeting. We look
forward to a good attendance here to move the Club into the next year.
As always, Paceway Cars and Coffee was its usual success. For October, it falls on
the 8th which is also Bathurst day. Don’t let this discourage you as race start is 11am
so you can still go and be home by the time the flag falls.
Also in September was a night at Talotta’s Pizza at Kurnell. Always a good relaxed
night, there is one more scheduled for November 25, more details once they are
confirmed
There was also a cruise and car show at Anna Bay. A good number attended and from
all reports a really good day.
One of our annual events was also on September 17, the Lugarno Spring Fair Car
Show. We had around 10 cars there and for the second year in a row we won the Best
Club Display award. Icing on the cake here was member Wayne “Swifty” Van Dyk
win the Peter Moody Favourite Ford trophy.
On September 24 we covered a new cruise destination. Organised by member Peter
Mckay, it covered a number of lookouts up the Great Western Highway and down
Bells Line of Road. 10 cars in attendance and another great day.
Now on to October.
Apart from the McCredie’s night/AGM and Paceway Cars and Coffee, there is a car
show and a cruise on the agenda.
October 14-16 will be Capital All Ford Day. Organised by the Events boys, details
have been circulated and will be confirmed closer to the weekend.
October 22 is scheduled a cruise to Wiseman’s Ferry. Confirmation and details will
also be circulated.
Also on the weekend of October 28-29 is a display at Sydney Motorsport Park for the
annual Touring Car Masters. Ben Schibeci has circulated details.
If anything else comes up for October you will receive Facebook and email advice.
We now also have an addition to our merchandise. Jackie Fredericks has had
produced a limited run of FPV Tickford Car Club bucket caps. These will first be
available for sale, $20 each, at McCredie’s at the social/AGM. Also some additional
ordered jackets and polo stock will be available on the night.
So apart from the website, don’t forget to keep an eye out for Club emails, as well as
an eye on the Facebook page for any event notifications and updates. On the
Facebook page you will also see loads of photos of events held.
You will now also receive an email and photo of our member of the month, long timer
Eric Maastricht. Well known to most of us, read more about him here.
Until next month, happy and safe motoring,

Kind regards,

John Barbaro
President, FPV Tickford Club of NSW
