Letter from the President, November 2017

To all FPV Tickford Club of NSW Members.

Dear All,

So November now, the Halloween displays are now down and store shelves filled with

Christmas decorations….ouch.

For the Supercar fans October had highs and lows. Bathurst held so much promise

but came to nothing, however Gold Coast was a double victory plus a victory in the

Endurance Championship. Still strong for the Championship though, we will know

who wins later in November.

October had a load of Club activity.

Firstly, to McCredie’s. This month it doubled as our Annual General Meeting. There

was a great turnout with 31 voting members in attendance, almost half the Club.

There wasn’t a huge change to the Committee, with all existing candidates holding

their portfolios except for Sam Agiakatsikas taking over Membership from Heather

Mahon, and Grant Booth taking over from Brian Bailey as Webmaster.

In acknowledging these changes, I’d like to firstly thank Heather for her contribution

over the last few years, and we also acknowledged this with a special award on the

night. Grant will take over Webmaster duties and Brian will move to a subcommittee

role in support of him. We must also acknowledge Brian’s work in updating the web

site this year, which gives Grant a great base to work with. Brian is also joined on the

subcommittee by Max Bean and Eric Maastricht. We also recognised the work by

Mario Attard and Craig Elson for bringing events so far over the past year.

McCredie’s for November moves back to it’s normal format and will be on this

Tuesday, November 7. Hope to see many of you there.

As always, Paceway Cars and Coffee was its usual success, not even Bathurst day

hurt it ! This month will be Sunday November 12.

Also in October was Capitol All Ford Day in Canberra. We had around 11 cars on

show for what was a great day. Club members also won trophies on the day, Noel Bell

for best Tickford and Craig Elson for best FPV GT.

October 22 was a day cruise to Wiseman’s Ferry. 9 cars in attendance for what again,

was a great event and well received by those who went.

Last but not least for October was our display at Sydney Motorsport Park’s Muscle

Car Masters. A show where our Tickford members held centre stage, we had 5 of

these highlighting the show with a good number of FPVs in support.

Now on to November.

Apart from the McCredie’s night and Paceway Cars and Coffee, there are more

events on the agenda.

November 4 & 5 will be the Mid North Coast All Ford Day. This is a hugely popular

event and looks like we have upward of 14 cars on show. If last year’s event is

anything to go by this year will be sensational.

November 12 will be a Bathurst charity cruise, more details to follow.

Unfortunately, the Club display supporting the Supercars at Newcastle has been

cancelled, the circuit surrounds not suitable for a show. No doubt many Club

members will still go as spectators for the new event.

November 25 is also a proposed night at Talotta’s pizza, again details will follow.

Two events in December to be scheduled as well. Sunday December 10 will be the

annual Club Show and Shine and Christmas party at Springwood Country Club, and

Sunday December 17 the annual President’s Light Show at my home. Again, details to

If anything else comes up for November you will receive Facebook and email advice.

A reminder on merchandise. Bucket caps are now available for sale, $20 each. More

merchandise is being scheduled for early in the new year.

For everyone’s information, the Committee has met since the AGM to set up the end of

2017 and the start of 2018. You will soon receive a 2017 survey which will cover some

of the questions the Committee want to ask members, as well as some merchandise

options we ask your opinion on.

So apart from the website, don’t forget to keep an eye out for Club emails, as well as

an eye on the Facebook page for any event notifications and updates. On the

Facebook page you will also see loads of photos of the events mentioned above.

You will now also receive an email and photo of our member of the month, newcomer

Matthew Szabo. Here’s your chance to get to know him !

Until next month, happy and safe motoring,

Kind regards,

John Barbaro

President, FPV Tickford Club of NSW
