Letter from The President, March 2017

To all FPV Tickford Club of NSW Members.

Dear All,

Welcome to March, the start of autumn. Sadly the days will start getting shorter and cooler, but also for many of us we can get excited with the new Supercar season about to start. How will Ford go this year? Will DJR Team Penske outperform PRA? Can we get the Championship back?

Starting with the usual routine, McCredies for February was another big success. We have such a great night there every month and for March it will be Tuesday March 7. A reminder message will be sent the weekend before.

Believe it or not, and I know I have made this claim many times before, Cars & Doughnuts in February was bigger than ever. Extending on this, some of us kicked on for a lunch up at Blaxland and made even more of a day of it which we may do more often. Come along in March, it will be Sunday March 12.

Just covering off February events, the cruise and show supporting the Bathurst 12 hour race was again a success. A good number attended and many stayed for the whole weekend. From what I hear apart from the show and the race, it was a great weekend, loads of laughs and I believe lots of brushes with fame. Thanks to Ben S for the organisation of the cruise and display.
Following on from that was the return to Talotta’s Pizzas at Kurnell. Once again a good turnout for a really good night. On such a brutally hot day I hear the breeze a Kurnell was a great relief.

There are two major events in March you need to be aware of.
Sunday March 19 is the Leukaemia Foundation Charity Cruise to Bathurst. As I have said before, any Bathurst cruise is a good cruise but this one has special significance. We really welcome as many as possible to join in, especially as it will be a combined event with other clubs so we can be proud on the day with the quality of our Club display. Not only this, but if anyone underestimates the effort that goes into something like this, we need to be there to support the tremendous effort of Craig Elson to pull it all together. It has involved organising insurances, following regulations with authorities, pulling together partners and sponsors, fundraising, as well as organising some interesting raffles. If you haven’t already put your name down for this one get in touch with Craig, polish up your pride and joy and join in.

Just as a note on the event, it will be a complex day and any assistance would be very much appreciated. My experience of Club events tells me that this is never an issue as everyone pitches in, so
all volunteer efforts will be appreciated. Also bring along some spare cash to buy some raffle tickets on the day. I have seen the portfolio of raffles for the day and they will create a lot of interest.

We continue our charity support the next Saturday, March 25, with our support of Cam’s Day. This event, to be held at Kiama Showground, is supporting kids in need. The cause
has previously been promoted in the Club by member Wayne Van Dyk and the Club will show it’s support for the day with it’s presence. Again, if you have the chance, come for the drive and join in. Mario and Craig need to know your intention to attend so let them know.

I’ll take the chance to remind you of another highlight annual Club even, the Sussex Inlet weekend and car show. For 2017 this even was on then off but is most definitely ON again. Now supported by the Bowling Club as opposed to the RSL Club, it’s always been a great weekend and one we all look forward to. Steve Lamb organises this one and is also coordinating accommodation, so if you don’t have your name down so far be quick, he only has limited cabins still available.

As always, keep up to date with Club emails, website www.fpvclub.com and Facebook FPV Tickford Club of NSW. Here you can confirm when events are being scheduled and, receive updates, as well as seeing loads of photos from the events that are organised.

Hope to see many of you at either Guildford, Penrith, Bathurst, Kiama or Sussex Inlet !

You will now also receive an email with Member of the Month. This month it’s Nick Attard, who has often represented us in Concourse at All Ford Day and has done himself, and his beautiful car proud.

Have a safe month,

Kind regards,

John Barbaro President, FPV Tickford Club of NSW
